Rajmata Gajra Devi Ji Masaheb Mandloi
A regent of rare strength and quiet authority, Rajmata Gajra Devi oversaw the estate during her son Rao Chhatrakaran’s minority. She commissioned the Hathi Dwar—the palace’s grand ceremonial gate—on the occasion of his janeyu. Known for her discipline, cultural refinement, and administrative capability, she maintained the integrity of the Rawala at a time when India’s aristocratic traditions were in transition. Gajra Devi symbolised resilience and maternal governance, earning reverence both within the palace and among the people of Juni Indore.
